Discontinuation of

March 2008, DOTARS will no longer issue CRNs for ADR 23/01. All CRNs issued up to that date will still be
usable in applications until the end date of ADR23/01.
CRNs
will not be issued for ADR 23/02 as ADR 23/02 allows for ECE Regulation
approvals.
Instead
the SE 23/02 form will have provision for multiple ECE Regulation approvals
allowing the vehicle manufacturer to supply information for multiple tyres on
one form.
Tyre
CRNs have been significantly under utilised in vehicle approvals and are no
longer efficient in terms of the resources devoted to tyre CRNs compared to the
resources devoted to using test results directly for vehicle approval.
With
the introduction of ADR 23/02 ECE Regulation approvals can serve the same
purpose as a tyre CRN for those tyre manufacturers who wish to continue to use
this approach.
Vehicle
manufacturers will still be able to submit tyre test report data supplied to
them by the tyre manufacturer.
